Ely Bridge / Penarth Headland Link Sustrans schemes to go to 'Big Lottery' TV vote

Anonymous writes "No doubt you are aware the river Ely Bridge project is included in Sustrans' bid for Big Lottery funding.  The  "Living Landmarks" television vote is to be held in December.

Sustrans are now at the stage where they are liasing with local community and campaigning groups to shore up the vote in those areas that will directly benefit from the proposed Connect2 projects.

Ely Bridge / Penarth Headland Link Sustrans' Connect2 Lottery Bid On Course

From SUSTRANS:
Sustrans, the UK’s leading sustainable transport charity, has selected the final 79 community projects from around the UK that will make up its ‘Connect2’ bid to the Big Lottery Fund’s Living Landmarks: The People’s Millions competition. Connect2 is up against five other schemes with the winner to be ultimately decided by a televised public vote on ITV1 in December. The Big Lottery Fund will consider each of the competing bids and decide which make it to the television vote, with the eventual winner set to receive up to £50 million in funding.

Ely Bridge / Penarth Headland Link Penarth Headland Link update

Anonymous writes "
The Echo letters on 29 March carried my challenge to the myth their reporter has been spreading about public support for the £20 million Headland Link.

Headland Link Re-think - It's untrue that "public pressure forced a re-think" as the Echo reported on 15 March (says Max Wallis).

Ely Bridge / Penarth Headland Link Plaid's candidate now supports Ely Bridge

maxw writes "Plaid Cymru are circulating a flyer in 'Penarth & Cardiff South' calling for the Vale and Cardiff Councils to cooperate to construct the Ely Bridge to Cogan.

Plaid Cllr Chris Williams is quoted as saying "the Vale Council is faced with enormous financial problems. The £5 million overspend in Social Services.." but he still wants to progress the Bridge."
