Sustrans schemes to go to 'Big Lottery' TV vote
Posted on Saturday, August 18 @ 22:35:20 BST by max.wallis

Ely Bridge / Penarth Headland Link Anonymous writes "No doubt you are aware the river Ely Bridge project is included in Sustrans' bid for Big Lottery funding.  The  "Living Landmarks" television vote is to be held in December.

Sustrans are now at the stage where they are liasing with local community and campaigning groups to shore up the vote in those areas that will directly benefit from the proposed Connect2 projects.

As an initial step we are asking cycle campaign groups throughout the UK to help promote the schemes local to them and to encourage members and affiliated groups to register with us, by text or e-mail, to receive information on how to vote once the details are made public. The plan is, once ITV and the Big Lottery Fund annouce the date and number to vote we can contact those who have registered an interest in the schemes with the relevent details.

To this effect, Sustrans are asking Cardiff Cycling Campaign members to visit the following page on our Sustrans Connect2 website:

http://www.sustransconnect2.org.uk

You can also text 'Connect2' to 80010. The numbers we obtain will enable us to text back when the vote has opened with the telephone number you will will need to call to vote. The numbers we gather using this method will only be held for this purpose only.

The particular scheme for Cardiff can be found here:

There is also another scheme that will benefit or at least be of interest:

The other schemes in South Wales are:

http://www.sustransconnect2.org.uk/schemes/project_detail.php?id=85

http://www.sustransconnect2.org.uk/schemes/project_detail.php?id=67

http://www.sustransconnect2.org.uk/schemes/project_detail.php?id=118

http://www.sustransconnect2.org.uk/schemes/project_detail.php?id=116

http://www.sustransconnect2.org.uk/schemes/project_detail.php?id=68

We hope that with your support we can win the public vote and ensure that these vital schemes can go ahead.
